Our Mission

Encourage. Educate. Enlighten. Empower.

Miss Minnie’s Kids Jamaica Project USA is a non-profit organization founded in 2002 that is concerned with the development and social welfare of the Jamaican child in his/her environment, focusing primarily on the children in Cane Heap, Saint Mary, and their surrounding neighborhoods in rural Saint Mary Jamaica West Indies. Our mission is to protect, preserve, and educate our children and to offer a sound, stable childhood experience.

Miss Minnie’s Kids is housed on the Jamaican shores but is recognized as a global effort where children and friends of the organization are encouraged to care for children in need. One of our most popular efforts is our Christmas Giving initiative, where children and organizations are encouraged to donate new and gently used toys, which are then shipped and delivered to the children on Christmas Morning in Cane Heap St. Mary.

We seek to move beyond the confines of a “holiday organization” to a more versatile one which will create safe havens for the rural children in our district. Miss Minnie’s Kids is also focused on education; for the beginning of each school year, supplies are delivered to the local primary school, Richmond Road Primary School. As we continue to expand our reach and scope of work, Miss Minnie’s kids seeks to create an organization which develops, enlightens, encourages, and educates children to a world beyond our Cane Heap boundaries.

Miss Minnie’s Kids Jamaica Project USA stands on the shoulders of the Late Minnie Harris of Cane Heap Saint Mary and seeks to function in the spirit and principles by which she lived — “to treat your neighbor as yourself,” and “to whom much is given much is expected.”
